Sunday 1st July
Sunday morning the speaker will be Ruth Bennett of LCET
LCET is: an organisation established by Luton churches, our distinctive Christian ethos comes from a desire to see Christ’s message of hope and justice expressed to and among young people.
LCET is: passionate about making a real difference in Luton. After all, what could be more important than ‘being there’ for young people at the right moment. We're determined to move mountains to serve and support the teenagers we work with, and go the extra mile to see them reach their potential. We believe they deserve the best we can offer. It's an exciting journey and, on the way, we find ourselves inspired and challenged by the young people we meet.
Ruth Bennett has been an LCET Staff member since 1998
Role: Head of HR and Operations for Youthscape
Ruth has been involved in youth
work for 16 years. She has a Masters Degree in Youth Ministry and
Theological Education from Kings College London, with her first degree
being in Fine Art. Starting in LCET as a chaplain, helping young people
develop holistically and healthily, Ruth now spends most of her time
mentoring staff to do the same. A gifted communicator and teacher, Ruth
is also responsible for developing policies and procedures within the
organisation. Ruth oversees the operational management of Youthscape.

Thorn Service 8pm Thursday 21st June 2012
The annual open air service at the site of Thorn Baptist Church is 8pm tonight - regardless of the weather.
You may need 'robust' footwear as the
ground will be wet. Though, in several decades, I've only known it to
rain during the service (despite what it might be doing elsewhere) two
or three times. Two other things to note: If you cannot stand for 45mins
please bring your own seating. If you need to use the 'bathroom' you'll
find very little privacy -hedge coverage is minimal. Details of the histry of the site and its connection with Houghton Regis Baptist Church can be found on the HRBC church history page - accessed via the 'Pages' menu on the right of this posting. KW.

This quiet spot,
this quiet evening,
an echo of
“Be still”.
Written on grassy parchment
the resonance of God’s house
from ‘once upon a time’
generations ago.
The only markings left : timeworn gravestones,
foundation indentations,
and a new generation
who worship
occasionally
on this quiet spot
and remember those
whose tears and laughter
lead them to the house of God.
This quiet spot
speaking again:
‘with my mouth I will make
Your faithfulness known
through all generations’.*

Ordination
Ordination of Kevin Price
2.30pm Sat 23rd June 2012
at Houghton Regis Baptist Church
It doesn't seem like three years ago that Kevin left Houghton Regis to commence studies at Regents Park College (Oxford), and a student pastorate at Ringstead Baptist Church (Northants). However, I am assured that it has been that long (and the finance team that took up his treasurer role can probably vouch for it).
Now, three years on, we are proud to be hosting his ordination service. Rev Geoff Colmer will be officiating.
Amongst other friends and representatives of the Baptist Union and the college, we will be welcoming guests from Kevin's student pastorate and from Leavesden Road Baptist Church (Watford) the church he'll be pastoring from the Autumn.
